The Hideout – Honorable Mention
The distinction was awarded for the incorporation of a Do It Yourself facility into the architecture, i.e. for self-construction, and for the use of local and natural building materials, such as wood, straw, and gypsum plaster. Noteworthy is the use of tires filled with gravel as a point foundation. Tires – very difficult to dispose of or recycle – which support the house, are an example of sustainable and conscious thinking about both man and the entire ecosystem. Noteworthy is the availability of materials and ease of construction, which translates into providing everyone with the possibility of shelter. The hiding place is not only an example of good architecture, but also a kind of phenomenon that brings added value – social relations that will arise during neighborly cooperation in the construction of a house.
